A presentation event for "cocomato", a new endeavor that goes beyond the realm of industry and academia, was held.
Hamada Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hamada) and the Japan Welfare Consultative Organization (hereinafter referred to as Japan Welfare Organization), which operates a support business for people with disabilities, participated in the ``cocomato'' presentation event, which proposes a lifestyle that fashionably wears industrial waste, as a new attempt that goes beyond the realm of industry-academia welfare, held by the Nagoya Gakugei University School of Media Design (hereinafter referred to as Nagoya Gakugei University), which has departments of film, design, and fashion. At the recital, a dress made from scrap materials was unveiled, a movie was shown detailing the path to completion, and the production process was looked back on.

■What is “cocomato”?
It embodies the idea of ``embracing the spirit of tackling social issues'' (Kokoromi wo Mato). The activities of "cocomato", together with businesses that deal with various issues such as processing issues faced by industrial waste treatment businesses and employment issues faced by disability support businesses, allow universities to become a medium that connects different fields, and work towards solutions from social issues to ideas.
Until now, we have held workshops with people with disabilities who go to offices of the Japan Welfare Council, mainly students from Nagoya Gakugei University, and have taken on the challenge of developing products using waste materials provided by Hamada. During my activities, I realized that each piece of scrap wood has a role and that its shape is simple and beautiful. Therefore, we tried to create a dress using waste materials with the idea of ``Let's put it in the spotlight once more before it gets thrown away'' and ``Let's wear industrial waste in a fashionable way.''
■ Cooperation with “cocomato”
Hamada provided the materials for the dress, such as electronic circuit boards and the sails of the ship, which were shown at the recital. In addition, a movie shot using the outdoor waste storage area of the Hamada Osaka Recycling Center as a runway won the Excellence Award at the 9th Recycle Art Exhibition (https://recycle-art-exh.jp/). The title of the work is ``Wearing Kiban,'' and the concept is ``Shining the spotlight once again and wearing recycling in a fashionable way.'' The works created through this activity were socially evaluated.
